공간가중회귀분석 방법을 활용한 폭력범죄의 공간적 상이성(Spatial Heterogeneity) 및 사회구조적 원인 분석

본 연구는 국내 X시 Y구의 집계구 내의 폭력범죄와 사회구조적 변수들 간의 관계를 일상활동이론의 관점에서 분석하였다. 집계구 내에서 관측되는 폭력범죄는 공간적으로 종속되어 있을 뿐만 아니라, 그러한 종속성은 국지적 관점에서 다른 방향과 강도를 나타낸다. 종래의 공간회귀모형은 변수들에 내재한 공간적 종속성을 고려하여 OLS회귀모형보다 적합한 모형을 도출하나, 이는 전역적 관점에 그치는 것으로 국지적 관점에서 관찰되는 비정상성을 고려하는 데에는 한계가 있다. 이에, 본 연구는 폭력범죄와 사회구조적 변수들 간의 관계에 내재한 비정상성을 확인하고, 공간가중회귀모형을 적용하여, 전역적 및 지역적 관점에서 실증분석을 실시하였다. 전역적 관점에서, 공간가중회귀모형은 OLS모형이나 공간오차회귀모형과 비교하여, 변수들의 폭력범죄에 대한 영향력을 상이하게 추정하였을 뿐만 아니라, 적합도가 높은 모형을 도출하였다. 한편, 국지적 관점에서, 공간가중회귀모형은 변수들의 폭력범죄에 대한 영향력의 방향과 강도를 각 집계구별로 상이하게 추정하였다.
Abstract
This study aimed to examine the relationship between violent crime rates and structural variables in Y-gu, X city, South Korea under the routine activity theory. This study observed the rates within census output areas, geographic unit of analysis, are spatially dependant and stationary. Spatial regression models assuming spatial dependance are more suitable than the traditional OLS models; however, they fail to consider spatial non-stationarity. Therefore, identifying the existence of spatial autocorrelation and non-stationarity among structural variables, this study performed geographically weighted regression(GWR) analyses on the relationship between the rates and structural variables. The GWR model produced both global and local level outcomes. In the global level, comparing the results of GWR model with those of OLS model and spatial error model, his study found the GWR model fits better than other two models with lower AIC statistics. Moreover, in the local level, this study found that the relationship between the rates and structural variables within different census output areas significantly varied in its direction and strength.
