CCTV의 실질적인 효과가 아닌 CCTV에 대한 효과성 인식 여부는 연구가 극히 제한적으로 이루어져왔다. CCTV에 대한 효과성을 어떻게 인식하는가는 CCTV 설치에 대한 용인성으로 나아간다는 점에서 매우 중요하다고 할 수 있다. 이 연구는 CCTV의 효과성 인식을 설명할 수 있는 이론적 근거를 탐색하고 경험적으로 이를 검증하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 달성하기 위해 2010년 형사정책연구원에서 실시한 학교주변 환경설계를 통한 범죄예방에 관한 주민인식 조사를 활용해 위계적 회귀분석을 실시했다. 도구적 시각과 표현적 시각이라는 모델을 활용해 CCTV 효과성 인식에 실질적인 영향을 주는 요인들을 살펴본 결과, 두 모델 다 유의미하게 CCTV 효과성에 대한 인식에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 그 중에서도 물리적 무질서 인식, 비공식적 통제에 해당하는 표현적 시각 모형의 설명값이 도구적 시각 모형 설명값보다 무려 3.6배 높게 나왔다. 이 연구는 CCTV의 효과성 인식을 설명할 수 있는 이론적 배경의 토대를 마련하고 CCTV와 같은 1세대 CPTED의 활용을 위해서는 지역사회를 함께 고려하는 2세대 CPTED가 더불어 중요함을 시사하는 연구결과를 밝힐 수 있었다는 점에서 의의가 있다.
Abstract
Despite the abundant research about CCTV, not much attention has been paid upon efficacy of CCTV and theoretical background. It is important to know how people perceive the efficacy of CCTV because this lead to acceptability of CCTV. The current study tried to find the theoretical background and examined empirically. To achieve this goal, the data was drawn from 2010『How to Institutionalize CPTED in Korea(Ⅲ) : Safer School and Safer Community』 by Korean Institute of Criminology. The analysis outcomes revealed that two models are all significantly related to the efficacy of CCTV. Among these variables, expressive perspective variables such as incivility, social efficacy showed seven times as high explanatory power as instrumental perspective variables. The current study has value when it comes to working out on new theoretical background and trying to examine it.
