Abstract

Yoo, Hyun-kyung․Kang, Hyoun-hwa. 2002. A Study on the Extended Notion of Synonym in lexical education. Teaching Korean as a Foreign Language, 27, 243~269. One of the problems in teaching Korean as a second language is about vocabulary. It is especially difficult to explain the differences between vocabulary. Therefore, it is useful to apply learner's dictionary in the classroom as a supplementary instrument for effective learning for vocabulary. Current Korean dictionaries do not provide sufficient information regarding distinctive features of the extended notion of synonym. This study describes current issues about the extended notion of synonym and conducts an analysis of several groups of verbs and adjectives as an example. This study also discusses how to apply the extended notion of synonym in lexical education. (Hongik University‧Kyunghee University)
