신석정 후기 시의 도가사상적 성격과 그 생태학적 함의

Abstract

Shin Seok-Jeong was one of the most important figures in the modern literary circles of South Korea. He is known as a poet who has been influenced by the Taoism. Previous studies on his poetry have been done to explain his early poetry from the perspective of the Taoism. However, studies on his later poetry, especially studies on his manuscripts anthology“The Songs I Want to Sing”are rather scarce, because the anthology was published only by 2007. Therefore, there is little research on how natural images appear in the late poetry and whether the consciousness on the nature of Shin Seok-Jeong has changed or not. Considering these facts, this study attempts to examine the recognition of the nature of Shin Seok-Jeong in his later poems. In the later poems of Shin Seok-Jeong, two poetry anthologies are included. In the previous researches on tn the collection of“The Sound of Bamboo Wind”,which is the last anthology published before Shin Seok-Jeong died. The attention to the nature-friendly tendency revealed in the poetry has been mainly explained as the return to the early nature poetry. In fact, taoist thought is well presented in his later poems. According to the results of this study, the poetic natural thought of“Wuwei-Ziran”appeared in Shin Seokjeong's later poems is meaningful in the following two aspects. First, it is a roundabout resistance to the rigid censorship system. Second, it is an alternative way of solving various problems of modern society and restoring the relation between human and nature. Shin Seok-Jeong advocated getting rid of the thoughts of self-centrism and anthropocentricism, and through the transformation of worldview to“Wuwei-Ziran”could help view the problems of human society at a higher level. In this respect, the late poems of Shin Seok-Jeong have profound ecological implications.
