황순원 단편소설의 여성과 생태의식

1950년대 이후에 발표된 황순원 단편소설을 대상으로 하여 에코페미니즘의 관점으로 여성을 살펴보았다. 여성의 에코페미니즘적 의미는 남성이 여성/성을 만나는 서사구조로 구체화된다. 황순원의 남성 주인공들은 여성 만나기를 통해 인간성의 균형을 찾고 상처를 치유하며 반생명적인 세상을 감싸 안는 원리를 내재화한다. 그것은 남성중심의 문화가 배제하고 억압해온 여성을 이해하는 타자의 윤리학이 되는 것인데, 여성타자의 이해는 일거에 혹은 쉽게 이루어지지 않는다. 요령부득의 타자를 이해하고자 하는 방황과 갈등에는 인내의 시간과 돌봄의 수고로운 시간이 개입된다. 황순원 문학이 세상을 바라보는 따뜻한 시선은 이러한 내면의 시간이 서서히 누적되는 서사구조와 깊은 상관이 있다. 인류의 이성적 문명은 여성과 자연을 벗어나려는 남성적 초월을 옹호하는 과정이라고 말할 수 있다. 황순원 단편소설은 남근 공동체의 타자인 여성을 찾는 서사를 보여줌으로써 남성의 잃어버린 반쪽을 일깨워준다. 이는 전쟁과 전쟁 이후의 메마르고 어두운 반생명적인 상황에 대응하고자 하는 작가적 의식과 작가적 감수성의 반응으로 보인다. 그의 소설에서 여성성은 단순한 소재의 차원이 아니라 온전한 전체를 향한 깊은 욕구와 관련이 있으며 세상을 바라보는 심미적 시선의 근간이 되고 있다. 황순원 단편소설은 생명의 연결성이라는 관점에서 여성을 자기 문학의 중요한 기반으로 삼고 있다. 말하자면 ‘정복자 사회’를 지양하고 ‘양육자 사회’로 세상을 새로 짜고자 하는 문학적 지향을 분명하게 보여주는 것인데, 그것은 자기시대에 대한 문학적 응전방식이 에코페미니즘의 지향과 맞물리는 사례를 보여준다. 남성이 여성과 자연에 의존하고 있다는 사실을 깨닫고 남성 내부에 있는 여성성 혹은 영성을 일깨우며 돌봄과 책임의 관계 윤리를 체득하는 황순원 단편소설은 생태사회의 재건이라는 관점에서 새로운 의미와 현대적 가치를 가진다.
Abstract
This essay has examined women in the viewpoint of ecofeminism in the short story of Hwang Soon-won which were published since the 1950's. Women's ecofeminist implications are embodied in narrative structures in which men meet feminity. His male protagonists internalize the principle of finding a balance of humanity, healing wounds, and embracing a non-vital world through meeting women. It is the ethics of the other that understands women who have been suppressed and oppressed by men-centered cultures, and the understanding of the female other is not made at all or easily. Tips and Wonders In order to understand the inevitable other, wandering and conflict involve the time of patience and the hard work of caring. The warm gaze of the writer's literature on the world has a deep correlation with the narrative structure in which such inner time gradually accumulates. The rational civilization of mankind can be said to be a process of defending masculine transcendence to escape women and nature. His short stories reminds men of the lost half by showing narratives seeking women, the batter of the penis community. This seems to be the reaction of the artist consciousness and the artist's sensitivity to cope with the dark and non-vital situation after the war and the war. In his novels, feminity is related not only to the dimension of materiality but also to the deep desire for the whole, and is the basis of the aesthetic gaze of the world. Hwang, Soon-Won short stories make women an important foundation of their literature in terms of life connectivity. In other words, it clearly shows the literary intention to refrain from 'conqueror society' and to create a new world with 'care-giving society'. This shows the way in which the literary response method of his own age is intertwined with the fostering of ecofeminism. His short story, which realizes that men are dependent on women and nature and awakens feminity or spirituality inside men and learns the ethics of caring and responsibility, has a new meaning and modern value in terms of reconstruction of ecological society.
