The purpose of this study is to analyze the common usage of ‘ida’ constructions written by Korean undergraduates and Chinese undergraduates in order to develop educational contents and methods for teaching ‘ida’ constructions in Korean language education. First of all, 901 ‘ida’ constructions are collected from 35,026 words written by 60 Chinese undergraduates. And 1,278 ‘ida’ constructions gathered from 35,011 words written by 60 Korean undergraduates are utilized as comparative data for analyzing the usage of ‘ida’ constructions written by Chinese undergraduates. Through the analysis on ‘ida’ combinatorial patterns of preceding and following elements in ‘ida’ constructions written by Chinese undergraduates, a couple of problems are found out as follows: (1) ‘-Jeok’ derivatives as preceding element of ‘ida’ are misused. (2) Sequential particles including genitive case marker ‘ui’ as preceding element of ‘ida’ are not frequently used. (3) Frequency of ‘ida’ constructions in embedded clauses are low. (4) Disagreement between subject and ‘ida’ construction and disagreement between ‘interrogative -nyamyeon’ and ‘ida’ construction occur rather frequently. (5) ‘-Neun geosida’, ‘-daneun geosida’ as well as discourse marker ‘malida’ are usually misused in ‘ida’ constructions.
