본 논문의 목적은 시문에 나타난 포은의 세계관을 규명하여 이론과 실제를 겸비한 진정한 유학자로서의 포은의 발자취를 거시적으로 재조명하고 오늘날 포은사상이 갖는 의미를 고찰하는데 있다. 포은의 학문세계는 자득지학에 의거하여 형성된 것으로서, 儒學의 기본경전들을 기반으로 聖賢의 求道精神을 연마한 결과 經學 중시 태도가 기본 바탕으로 흐르고 있었다. 고려 말의 급변하는 시대상황에 대한 대응자세에서 확인된 포은의 精忠大節은 단순히 고려왕실을 위해 절개를 지키다가 죽은 것이 아니라 내 몸을 던져 도를 따른 ‘以身殉道’의 전형이라 하겠다. 포은의 세계관은 현대사회에 있어서 자본이나 물질 이외에 추구할 만한 가치가 엄연히 존재함을 우리들에게 분명하게 제시해주고 있다.
Abstract
This study is aimed to re-illuminate Poeun’s life in macro view as a true Confucian scholar who were good in practice and theory as well and think of the meaning of his idea by investigating his world viewpoint shown on his poetry. His world of study was formed on JaDeukJiHak (自得之學: being enlightened by one’s own practice and thought), which flew basically on the attitude of valuing GyeongHak (經學: study of nine Chinese classics), resulted from the training of the great men’s spirit toward truth founded on the basic Confucian scriptures. His JeongChungDaeJeol (精忠大節: genuine faith to his king) shown on his attitude to meet the social situation rapidly changing late in Goryeo dynasty is not thought to be only a death for his faith to his king and king’s family of Goryeo dynasty. It is a good model of ‘IShinSunDo (以身殉道: being martyred for truth)’ under which he threw his body to follow the truth. Such world viewpoint of his clearly shows that there is, for sure, the value that we have to look for beyond the capital and material in this modern society.
