Abstract
This study aims to analyze the disaster aspects caused by climate change in Dome City trilogy included in Kim Ki-chang's Love in the Age of Climate Change: “High Fever Project”, “A Day with Seagulls and Ghosts”, and “The Truth About Dogs and Cats”. These fictions depict various conflicts surrounding the virtual space called “Dome City” in the era of climate disaster. Accordingly, this study examined how Cli-fi(Climate Fiction) portray the impact of the climate crisis on humanity using these fictions as a reflection, and then attempted to elucidate the significance of Cli-fi from a disaster humanities perspective based on this. It is not easy to clarify the genre characteristics of Cli-fi, but Cli-fi clearly shows what role it should play as literature in the Anthropocene. The fictions examined in this study deal with the conflicts of characters surrounding Dome City in a near-future era where climate disasters have intensified. The author portrays the climate disaster situation that forced the creation of Dome City through the events of various characters inside and outside Dome City and surrounding its borders. Kim Ki-chang's Dome City trilogy demonstrates that climate disasters are not merely fictional but a near-future reality that will confront humanity. It allows us to recognize the climate issues we face from a disaster humanities perspective and is also meaningful in that it encourages reflection on the underlying causes of the climate disaster.
