Abstract

This article presented three points for reconstructing Park Tae-won’s whereabouts and literature during the liberation period through “The Romance of the 3 Kingdoms for Children”, which has so far been rarely mentioned in previous study. “The Romance of the 3 Kingdoms for Children” is a children’s novel by Park Tae-won based on translation, whose review of the material can be used to get some clues about Park's whereabouts and literature during the liberation period. First of all, the close relationship among Eulyoo Munhwa-sa and the members of “Moonjang” and its surrounding figures is thought to be the background that “The Romance of the 3 Kingdoms for Children” was included in Elementary Schoolchild. In this regard, the work can be used to reconstruct Park’s human network during the liberation period. Next, the article revealed that the creation of “The Romance of the 3 Kingdoms for Children” was in parallel with Park’s translation. In this regard, the work epitomizes Park’s way of working between 1946 and 1948. The fact that the series of “The Romance of the 3 Kingdoms for Children” ended in 1949 presents a view of the early 1949 as a junction of Park Tae-won's literature during the liberation period. Finally, the article looked at the features of the “Children's Three Kingdoms” text by dividing them into content composition and editorial features. This allowed us to look at the creative methods of “The Romance of the 3 Kingdoms for Children”, progress of Park Tae-won’s The Romance of the 3 Kingdoms translation, his sense of children's literature during the liberation period, and experimental attempts to find new Korean orthography techniques of the time.
