유아평화교육 프로그램 개발을 위한 비판적 고찰

초록

본 연구는 유아평화교육 프로그램 개발을 위한 제언을 마련하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 평화학과 평화교육학, 유아평화교육 프로그램 연구 등 관련 문헌을 비판적으로 탐구하였다. 구성원들이 평화로운 방법으로 평화를 만들어간다는 UN의 지속된 평화의 개념과 평화교육 철학으로는 합리를 넘어서는 초이성적인 관점(Dietrich, 2013) 두 개의 관점을 비판의 준거로 삼았다. 문헌고찰에서는 평화개념과 평화교육 이론, 유아교육의 발달 이론이 통합되지 않고 있었으며, 유아평화교육 프로그램에서는 유아의 친사회적 행동과 관련된 제한적인 주제를 다루고 있으며 평화 실천의 참여 잘 연결이 되지 않았다. 이러한 내용을 바탕으로 유아평화교육 프로그램의 개발을 위하여 평화를 바라보는 관점과 유아의 목소리를 수용하는 전략, 평화교육 프로그램의 교수학습 내용과 방법을 제시하였다. 본 연구의 논의는 유아를 위한 평화교육 프로그램이 평화를 가르치는 것이 아니라 평화를 유아와 함께 만들어가도록 초대하는 과정이 되어야 함을 시사한다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to provide suggestions for the development of early childhood peace education programs. To this end, related literature such as peace studies, peace pedagogy, and early childhood peace education program studies was critically explored. Two perspectives, including 1) the UN's continued concept of peace that its members make peace in a peaceful way and 2) transrationality (Dietrich, 2013), which goes beyond rationality as a philosophy of peace education, were used as the basis for criticism. Literature review showed that the concept of peace, the theory of peace education, and the theory of the development of early childhood education were not integrated. Early childhood peace education programs dealt with limited topics related to children's prosocial behaviors and were not well connected with participation in peace practice. Based on these findings, perspectives on peace, strategies to accept children’s voices, and contents and methods of teaching and learning in peace education programs were presented for the development of an early childhood peace education program. Discussion of this study suggests that peace education programs for young children should not teach peace, but be a process that invites children to make peace together.
