정신장애인 가족보호제공자를 위한 집단프로그램의 개발 및 효과성에 관한 연구

초록

본 연구에서는 정신장애인 가족보호제공자 들을 위한 집단프로그램을 개발하여 실시한 후, 집단프로그램이 정신장애인 가족보호제공자 들의 부담(가족생활방해, 일상생활어려움, 정서적 부담, 우울, 자기효능감)에 어떠한 영향을 미치는가를 검토하고자 하였다. 집단프로그램의 내용과 진행방법은 문헌과 집단프로그램의 참여자 들 의 욕구 등을 바탕으로 개발하였으며, 지지집단을 기본으로 하되 교육과 개별상담을 병행하는 것으로 하였다. 연구방법은 비동일 통제집단설계를 활용하였으며, 실험집단과 비교집단으로 배치한 후 사전조사를 실시하고 실험집단에 대해서 매주 1회씩 총 8회에 걸쳐 집단프로그램을 제공하였으며 집단프로그램의 종료 후 다시 두 집단에 대하여 사후검사를 실시하였다. 실험집단에 대해서는 집단프로그램 종료 후 3개월 시점에서 추후검사를 실시하였다. 통계분석은 비모수통계방법인 Mann Whitney test, Wilcoxon test를 사용하였다. 연구결과, 첫째, 본 연구의 집단프로그램은 정신장애인 가족보호제공자 들의 부담으로 설정한 변인 중 가족생활방해와 정서적 부담을 감소시켜주고, 자기효능감을 증진시키는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 본 연구의 집단프로그램 종료 3개월 시점에서 실험집단성원 들을 대상으로 추후조사를 실시한 결과, 정신장애인 가족보호제공자의 가족생활방해와 정서적 부담에 대한 효과는 유지되고 있었고 자기효능감에 대한 효과는 유지되지 못하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 본 연구의 집단프로그램에 대해서 참여자 들을 대상으로 평가를 실시한 결과, 참여자들은 내용과 진행방법에 대해서 대부분 만족하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과를 바탕으로 정신장애인 가족보호제공자 들을 위한 집단프로그램의 이론적 ․실천적 함의를 제안하였다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop and examine the effectiveness of group program for family caregivers of persons with mental illness. Twelve caregivers were assigned to either a treatment group or a control group. The treatment group consisted of 8 weekly, 2-hour sessions which included support group, education, individual counselling. Mann whitney test and Wilcoxon test were used. Major findings were as follows: Caregivers of persons with mental illness in the treatment group experienced significant decrease in disruption of family life, emotional burden. They also experienced increase in self-efficacy. Most of these group program effects were maintained in the 3-month follow-up measurement except self-efficacy. Caregivers of persons with mental illness in the treatment group showed overall satisfaction with the content and the methods of group program. Based on these findings, implications for group program for family caregivers of persons with mental illness including self-help groups, expanding group program intervention for the family caregivers of persons with mental illness.
