독거노인의 자아존중감, 사회적 지지, 영성이 고독감에 미치는 영향 - 서울·경기 지역을 중심으로 -

초록

본 연구는 독거노인의 자아존중감, 사회적지지, 영성이 고독감에 영향을 미치는지와 영향을 미칠 경우 그 설명력은 어떠한지 알아보기 위한 것이다. 이를 위하여 서울·경기 지역에 사는 독거노인 218명을 대상으로 실증적인 조사를 하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 통제변인으로 사용한 학력, 건강상태, 경제상태를 집단변인으로 하여 독거노인의 고독감의 집단 간 차이를 살펴본 바 모든 부분에서 집단 간 차이가 나타났다. 즉, 학력이 높을수록, 건강상태가 좋을수록, 경제상태가 좋을수록 고독감은 낮은 것을 알 수 있다. 이때 건강상태와 경제상태는 주관적으로 인식하는 정도를 의미한다. 둘째, 자아존중감, 사회적지지, 영성은 독거노인의 고독감을 감소시키는 영향요인이었다. 셋째, 각 영향요인이 고독감에 미치는 설명력을 비교한 바 사회적 지지가 10.9%로 가장 높았고, 그 뒤를 이어 영성이 5.2%, 자아존중감이 3.5%로 나타났다. 넷째, 통제변인 중 경제상태는 통제변수와 독립변수를 모두 투입하였을 경우 영향요인으로 드러나지 않았으나 영향력을 알아보기 위한 검증 시 독립변인 중 하나씩 제거하였을 경우에는 일관되게 영향요인으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 토대로 독거노인의 고독감을 줄이기 위한 사회복지 실천방안을 제언하였다.

Abstract

This study examined the influence of self-esteem, social support and spirituality on loneliness of elderly people living alone and the explanatory level of these factors on loneliness. For this study, quantitative research of 218 elderly people living alone in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do was conducted. Results are as follows. First, in control variables such as educational background, health status and economic status significant statistical difference of loneliness were reported. In other words, the better educational background, health status and economic status alleviated loneliness. In this case, health status and economic status mean the level of subjective perception. Second, self-esteem, social support and spirituality were the influential factors reducing the loneliness of elderly people living alone. Third, the explanatory level of each factor on loneliness were compared—social support was the highest rated factor with 10.9% of respondents indicating social support was highly valued, spirituality was the second with 5.2% of those surveyed. and self-esteem was the third with 3.5%. Fourth, economic status, one of the control variables, was not observed as an influential factor when all control variables and independent variables were used, but it was observed as a consistent influential factor when independent variables were removed one by one to verify the level of influence. Based on these results, an action plan for social welfare was proposed to reduce the loneliness of elderlypeople.
