본 연구는 외국인 학부생의 학술적 글쓰기를 위한 요약하기 교육 방안의 효과를 검증하고 보완 사항을 고찰하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 선행연구들이제안한 요약하기 교육 방안을 활용해 수업을 진행하고 수업 전과 후 학생들이 쓴요약문을 평가하였다. 그리고 요약하기 수업에 참여한 학생들을 대상으로 요약하기 수업에 대한 설문조사를 실시한 결과를 정리하였다. 그 결과 본 연구에서 진행한 요약하기 교육이 학생들의 요약하기 능력 향상에 도움이 된 부분과 보완이 필요한 부분이 무엇인지 알 수 있었다. 먼저 요약하기 수업이 학생들의 요약하기 능력에 효과가 있었던 부분은 수업을 통해 강조하고 반복적인 연습을 한 핵심 내용파악과 관련된 항목들에 대한 것이었다. 이 부분에 대한 학생들의 요약하기 수행능력은 향상되었으며 학생들도 이에 대해 긍정적으로 응답을 하였다. 반면에 요약하기 수업의 내용 중 보완이 필요한 부분도 있었다. 이런 항목들은 하나의 글이되기 위해 자신의 말과 구성으로 바꿔 쓰기가 필요한 부분에 해당된다. 평가를 통해 확인한 결과 이 부분은 크게 향상되지 못했다는 점을 알 수 있었다. 이는 완결성과 응집성을 갖는 하나의 글을 쓰는 것은 학생들의 언어적 내용적 역량이 부족한 경우 상대적으로 더 어려움을 느낄 수 있는 항목들이기 때문으로 보인다. 이부분은 후속 연구를 통해 보완하고자 한다.
Abstract
This study aims to examine the effects of educational method for summarizing in foreign students’ academic writing. The measures suggested by previous studies were settled in class and the abstracts written by the students before and after the class were compared. Besides the questionnaire survey was conducted for students participating in the class. As a result, it was verified what part of education helped students improve their abilities to summarize and what needs to be supplemented. At first it was effective on students' ability to identify core content and repeat this activity. Students could improve the skill to find the point of text and they responded positively in survey. On the other hand, some of the contents of the summary class need to be supplemented. Korean learners should know how to replace their own words and composition to compose full text. The evaluation revealed that this part had not improved greatly. A perfect text has integrity and cohesiveness, so it is relatively difficult for students who lack the information and knowledge about language to complete the summary. This part will be complemented by follow-up studies.
