Comparison of the Response to Self-Rating Empathy Scale between Adolescents and Young Adults

목 적：본 연구는 자가평가용 공감척도인 대인관계 반응성 척도(Korean version of Interpersonal Reactivity Index ; IRI)를 이용하여 청소년과 20~30대 성인 간의 공감의 다차원적 차이를 조사해 보고자 하였다. 방 법：청소년 200명(남 : 녀=95 : 105, 평균나이 15.9±1.3세)과 성인 208명(남 : 녀=91 : 117, 평균나이 25.6±2.4세)이 IRI 검사를 완료하였다. 결 과：IRI 총점은 성인에 비해 청소년이 의미있게 높았다(p＜.001). 이런 집단간의 차이는 IRI의 네 가지 하부척도 모두에서 나타났다(all ps＜.001). 각 문항별 반응을 조사한 결과, 청소년은 일부 문항에서 역설적인 반응을 보였으며, 추가적인 요인분석을 통해 요인의 수뿐만 아니라 전반적인 요인구조에 있어 두 군간에 요인구조의 차이가 있음도 밝혔다. 결 론：비록 청소년의 IRI 총점이 보다 높았으나, IRI 설문에 대해 청소년은 많은 복합적인 이유로 인해 20~ 30대 성인과는 다른 반응을 보였다. 이러한 결과는 청소년의 공감의 내적구조 간 통합이 아직 완전하지 않음을 반영하는 것으로 볼 수 있다. 또한 청소년에서 실시한 IRI 결과의 해석에는 각별한 주의가 필요할 것으로 판단된다.
