2008년 대구지역축제 현황과 진단

Abstract

This study deals with 2008's Status of Festivals in Daegu and diagnoses it for its future development. There were held 49 festival events at Daegu, 2008, among which 12 had 10 years of history. 37 festivals came into being after 2000. 16 festivals, 5 of which initiated at 1980s, were abandoned for good, or absorbed into other festivals. The analysis of Daegu festival status shows that arts festivals were, compared to the festivals of traditional or indigenous items. Among the 7 core areas of arts, especially music seemed to be given a great deal of weight (7 festivals), the art being the next(3 festivals). Such an emphasis on music and art appears as Daegu’s characteristics. The metropolitan area, being different from rural districts, had been keen on performing arts in general. Daegu, however, had gone further out in that tendency. This study examined further the Daegu festival culture, in terms of its history and continuity, as well as its representation and variety. The oldest festival of Daegu is <Daegu Yangyeongsi Herb Medicine Festival> (Daegu Yangyeongsi Herb Medicine Festival), first held at 1982. This festival has been awarded financially from the Ministry of Culture Sports and Tourism. However Daegu, having been declared as the city of 'culture and arts' or of 'culture of performing arts,' seems to be ardent nurturing the two music festivals, <Daegu International Opera Festival>, <Daegu International Musical Festival>, supporting millions of wons.
