Abstract

This article consisted of the answers to the questions of how much scholarly materials dealing with performing arts in Daegu area there are, what the analysis of the data was telling about the current status of the research, and what the analytical result showed in regard to the meanings and limits of the research on performing arts culture of Daegu. These questions were led to the final question of which directions and methods the research of performing arts in Daegu would take to fully develop in future. The article finished with the critique on the research status. Current data of research material on performing arts showed stereo-typed patterns and highly limited in dealing with subject matter. As the cases of most Korean scholars, I while living in Daegu province have involved with academic activities mainly in nation-wide or international level. The locality issues were less important until recently. The research of local culture began to draw my attention. This study thus led me to diagnose current infra-structure of academic institutes and to evaluate the cultivation capacity for future researcher on local matters.
