본 연구를 통해 영화와 영화대본 『아름다운 시절』이 1930년대 스페인의 왕정에서 공화정으로의 교체기의 정치이념과 체제의 변화가 가져온 사회적 소용돌이를 어떻게 체현하고 있는지를 살펴보았으며 아래의 결론에 도달하였다. 첫째, 두 경찰관의 죽음과 스페인 제2공화국 탄생에 적극적으로 참여한 이들의 실명을 명시적으로 나열하여 당대 스페인의 혼란스러운 시대상을 그리고 있음을 확인할 수 있었으며, 둘째, 루이스 신부가 실존적 고뇌의 한 가운데서 스스로 목숨을 끊음으로써 성직자마저도 자신의 신앙에 확신을 갖지 못하는 당시의가톨릭교회가 처한 상황을 대변하고 있음을 알 수 있다. 셋째, 등장인물 마놀로가 각자의미래를 개척하기 위해 떠나는 아내와 딸들 모두를 자유롭게 놓아주는 모습에서 그가 바로진정한 자유를 추구하는 공화국 정신의 구현자라는 사실을 확인할 수 있었다. 넷째, 등장인물 후아니토의 성직자의 행위를 비웃는 독성과 신성모독 그리고 배교와 귀의의 반복을 통한 가톨릭교회의 희화화를 통해 제2공화정 하의 가톨릭교회의 흔들리는 위상을 확인할 수있었다. 그리고 마지막으로 여성 등장인물 아말리아의 행위와 네 명의 딸들의 성적 자유추구와 자유분방함 속에서 공화국 하에서 변화되어가는 여성들의 위상을 확인할 수 있었다.
Abstract
We have looked at how the film and the script, Belle Epoque, reflected the social vortex brought about by changes in Spanish political ideology and system in the early 1930s and reached the following conclusions. First, the death of two police officers in the early part of the work confirms that they depict the chaotic times of Spain at the time, wandering between conformity to the royal order and acceptance of the republic. Second, it was clear that Father Luis represented the situation of the Catholic Church at the time when even the clergy were unsure of their faith. Third, we could confirm that the character Manolo was the embodiment of the spirit of the republic, which seeks true freedom. Fourth, through the caricature of the sacrilege Catholic Church of the character Juanito, the shaky status of the Catholic Church under the Second Republic could be confirmed. Finally, through the act of female character Amalia and the pursuit of sexual freedom of four daughters, the film was able to confirm the destruction of the formula of active men and passive women, an order established between men and women in the traditional system.
