띠르소의 천부적인 극작가로서의 재능은 대부분 희극을 통해 실현되었다. 그의 희극작 품은 특히 여주인공에 그 극적 비중이 절대적으로 집중된다는 특징을 나타내고 있는데, 본 연구에서는 그 여주인공의 이면에 숨겨진 남성상을 부정적인 측면을 중심으로 살펴보 도록 한다. 띠르소의 희극에 나타나는 부정적인 남성상은 크게 세 가지로 요약될 수 있다. 첫째는 사악한 남성상이고, 둘째는 우유부단한 남성상이며, 셋째는 능력 부족의 남성상이 다. 당시 스페인 사회의 중심이 되었던 남성의 이상적인 측면만을 부각시키려 했던 당시 대부분의 희극작품들과 달리, 사악하거나 우유부단하거나 무능력한 남성상을 그의 희극에 서 거침없이 묘사한 띠르소 특유의 극적 시도는 17세기 스페인 희극의 다양성을 더욱 확 장시켜주는 하나의 바람직한 방법론으로 기능할 것이다.
Abstract
Tirso’s natural talent as a playwright was mostly realized through comedy. His comedic work shows that the dramatic weight of the heroine is absolutely concentrated, and in this study, the male image hidden behind the heroine will be examined focusing on the negative aspects. The negative male image in Tirso’s comedy can be summarized into three main categories. The first is an evil male figure, the second is an indecisive male figure, and the third is an incompetent male figure. Tirso’s unique dramatic attempt to portray evil, indecisive or incompetent male figures in his comedy will serve as a desirable methodology to further expand the diversity of 17th-century Spanish comedies, unlike most comedies at the time that sought to highlight only the ideal aspects of men at the center of Spanish society.
