Abstract

First of all, in Chapter 1, I suggest a literary discussion related to the concept of the new-style novel genre through the new-style novel and its settlement process. Chapter 2 deals with a variety of discussions on the new-style novel by suggesting the private discussions in terms of the adoption of the former narrative style and its descriptive attitude in the periodic characteristics of the new-style novel or its impossible phase of the standardization at that time. Finally, in Chapter 3, I try to investigate how the national crisis is embodied as the theme of the new-style novel by closely examining the real state of the ethnic awareness at a turning point of modern ages in the new-style novel. Moreover, focusing on the literary characteristics of the new-style novel, I present the debatable issues of many litterateurs differentiated from the former old-style novelThe new-style novel examined through this paper has a variety of literary characteristics and the limitations of its stylistic adoptions and variations. compared with the old-style novel. Significantly, the discussions on the new-style novel's characteristics and settlement process should involve its collision of realism, its ideology at a turning point of modern ages, and its distinctness of genre concept aiming for the fabrication. As literature cannot help considering readers, it should bring light on the periodic real issues together with the readers. It is true that the basis of literary style cannot be revealed unexpectedly in literary arena in the face of the literary style's sheer importation and imitation. Accordingly, I argue that the concept of the new-style novel is able to find the true meaning if it includes not only a variety of styles of the former prose narratives but also the narrative field in the newspapers of a turning point of modern ages
