한국 孔子學院 교재의 내용 실태에 관한 분석

Abstract

Recently, there have been a series of criticism reports domestically and internationally regarding the Confucius Institution; established by China. Western countries being the main, they criticize Confucius Institution as a stronghold for advocating the Chinese communist party system and their ideals, and some countries have decided to evict Confucius Institutions. In Korea, the opposition being the main, are also speaking up for the removal of Confucius Institutions out of the country. There are 24 Confucius academies in Korea. As of August 2021, this manuscript conducted a fact-finding analysis on a total of 99 kinds of publication lectures that have been used at the Confucius Institute’s headquarters on whether there is a controversy in accordance with common sense generally accepted by Koreans. Among the controversies, the majority are only at the level of common sense mentioned in the process of introducing the situation in China. However, although the proportion is very small, there are cases in which the editor intentionally inserted a phrase that promoted the Chinese system. The Confucius Institution in Korea has the full potential and ability to resolve such controversies. We need to find ways to naturally blend Confucius Institutes in our educational sites as well as develop them mutually, rather than taking extreme measures – the closure of Korean Confucius Institutes – stated by some camps.
