초록
This study is to see through the course of modifying Chinese writing in the way of Korean since the introduction of it. Without the Korean alphabet, a Chinese character or Chinese writing was adopted from China, brought into a life, and used to express an ideology and emotion. Since Chinese writing was different from Korean writing in word order, the way to learn it was needed to approach easily to it. That is to read and understand it by adding Korean suffixes to Chinese texts. A complete Chinese character, an abbreviated form of it, and the Korean script were used for these suffixes. While maintaining the form of Chinese poetry and using the word of the Joseon style written in Chinese characters for it, Joseonization of it succeeded in content, moreover, at the moment it came to an end, the poetry written for amusement, which was entirely changed into Joseon' style in contents, appeared with the form of Chinese poetry intact. That means the modification of Chinese writing, nothing but Joseonization. As Chinese writing ceased and Hangeul acquired the position as an official letter, regulations on phoneme of a word written in Chinese characters were instituted, but in the rule, the pronun-ciation, not of their own, modified in our way was applied. That is because a Chinese character or Chinese writing took charge of the principal axis in speech function for a good while. Any culture assimilates a advanced culture and makes its own style, taking merits but removing demerits. Thinking this point, it is necessary to reconsider the present understanding of a Chinese character or Chinese writing which have been used for a long time and modified in our style.
