《奎章總目》의 「臣謹按」 硏究

Abstract

“Kyujangchongmok” (the library catalogue of the Kyujanggak (the royal library of the Joseon Dynasty)) is a library catalogue through which we can look at the book collection culture of the Joseon dynasty’s royal family in the 18th~19th century and at the patterns of the family’s acceptance of Chinese culture. To date, most of previous domestic and foreign studies of the catalogue have been conducted from a bibliographical perspective, analyzing and arranging the background to the compilation of the catalogue, the period of the compilation, the classification system, its characteristics, etc. But there have been relatively few studies considering the catalogue of the royal family in terms of the book exchanges between the Joseon Dynasty (朝) and the Qing Dynasty (淸) and of the East Asian academic history. Notably, it is more difficult to find previous studies of “Shinggeunan” (臣謹按: the retainer’s advice for the king), through which we can directly assess the academic tendency and standards of the compiler. This paper aims to analyze in depth the contents of “Shinggeunan” (臣謹按) of the catalogue, considering the achievements and inadequate aspects of the previous studies. In addition, through the in-depth analysis, it intends to look at the positions of the royal family and scholars on Chinese studies in the reign of King Jeong-Jo.
