Abstract

By analyzing articles related to films made in colonial Joseon published in the Japanese magazine Tourism Joseon published in Japanese colonial era, this study considered how the medium of film was used at the national level to change and enhance the perception of colonial Joseon and Japanese people. In addition, this study was based on the problem of trying to penetrate into their daily lives (the daily life of consuming culture) to lead a ‘familiar situation’ rather than tourism as a ‘pleasant trip’ for Japanese people who were unfamiliar with the Joseon Peninsula at the time, and suggested that the purpose was to resolve ‘anxiety’ about the space of the Joseon Peninsula beyond ‘indifference’ of the Joseon Peninsula. In the big framework of Joseon’s life that the magazine wanted to show, the modifiers of Joseon-style, local, and local were attached to the peninsula film industry, mobilizing Japanese capitalists and technology and manpower related to film production because it was based on the internal reconciliation policy, emphasizing that the empire that should move to the continent should first know about the Joseon Peninsula as a logistical base. The film industry on the peninsula, which was developed as a national project, was also unveiled in the city center of Japan, and was produced as a device to inform the Japanese about the life of the Korean Peninsula, leading to the establishment of a local film in Japan. As a result, the films of the peninsula introduced in the magazine contained Joseon-style things in three dimensions, increasing the enthusiasm for the Joseon boom and the peninsular film production, and it was found that the number of national films for tourism promotion was expanded to the extent that they were produced as a Korea-Japan collaboration.
