タンデム学習の考え方を取り入れた遠隔プロジェクトワークの試み ―教師不在時の学生の自主的活動からの一考察―

Abstract

This study was a distance project incorporating the concept of tandem learning that was conducted as part of a class at University B in South Korea and University K in Japan. After tandem learning was explained to the learners, they were divided into teams that decided which differences they would investigate within the larger framework of "differences between Japan and Korea," and gave a presentation on their findings. Though part of the class, it was discussed in class only three times; the rest of the time the learners performed the distance project work via KakaoTalk outside class. In the end, only 2 of the 10 teams were able to communicate with each other in the target language during the distance project work. These two teams succeeded because all the team members had a good understanding of tandem learning, had read and practiced the manual carefully, and had started preparations early. Teachers should guide learners to show greater learner autonomy, which is the basic principle of tandem learning.
