전라남도의 정기시 구조와 지역 발전에 관한 연구

정기시는 지역사회와 밀접한 관계를 맺으며 경제적 기능뿐 아니라 사회·문화 등 종합적인 중심기능을 수행해 왔다. 경제·사회의 발달과 함께 정기시 기능이 쇠퇴되고 있지만, 그 입지지역은 중심기능을 수행 했던 만큼 교통 편익 외에 역사·문화적인 측면에서 지역 발전의 새로운 자원으로 활용할 수 있다. 특히 아직 잔존하고 있는 정기시 입지지역은 과거의 전통과 함께 진화하고 있는 지역의 투영체이므로, 지역 경쟁력 강화라는 당면한 과제를 해결할 수 있는 열쇠가 될 수 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 전라남도를 대상으로 지역과의 관계 하에서 정기시 구조를 분석하고, 정보화·세계화·고령화 사회라는 현실 속에서 정기시를 재조명하여 정기시와 그 입지지역에 대한 바람직한 발전 방안을 모색하고자 하였다.
Abstract
The periodic markets have very close relationships with the local communities, and have performed central functions of cultural, social and economic ones in the locational places. It is true the functions of periodic markets have been declined with the economic and social development, but the locational places with periodic markets can be applied as some new resources in the aspects of history and culture for the regional developments as well as the advantage of transportation caused by their performing central functions for a long time. Since the periodic markets, which are especially still existent, show evolving regional substance as well as the past tradition, it is also true that they can be the key resources to resolve some urgent problems faced, what we call, reinforcement of regional power for competition. The purpose of this study is to analyse the structure of periodic markets connecting to inter-regional relationships in Chollanamdo, and to search for the valuable strategies of development of periodic markets and their locational places in the age of information, global and aging society.
