한국어 교육에서의 표준어와 지역방언 - 경북지역을 중심으로 -

Abstract

We have so far discussed the relationship between standard Korean and regional dialects in Korean language education. As Korean language education was intensified in late 1990s, the Korean language education centered on the metropolitan area including Seoul and Gyeonggi Province has spread nationwide with various learning goals. At the present time of diverse goals and locals of Korean language education, this paper discusses the teaching methods of standard Korean and regional dialects, as summarized below. 1) When Korean language education is provided outside of Seoul Gyeonggi area, practical standard Korean language should be taught. 2) When Korean learners pick up regional dialects, standard outcome cannot be achieved. And learning regional dialects tend to be stratified in the future. 3) For the Korean learners it is desired to have good communication with the second generation, and it is also important to learn formal language to understand such formal documents as messages from school. 4) In terms of teaching contents, standard Korean language should be taught for expression, while an appropriate level of regional dialect should also be introduced. 5) For the instructors of Korean language, learning standard Korean pronunciation should be emphasized. 6) The Korean learners learning Korean in other areas than Seoul/Gyeonggi should know the presence of regional dialects and try not to be affected by them in the beginning class of Korean language education.
