유아교사 양성을 위한 교수법 찾기

최근 일방적으로 전달하는 강의식, 설명식 교수법대신에 구성주의 철학에 바탕을두고 학습자 중심의 교수법이라고 하는 문제 중심학습(PBL)에 대한 관심과 실천이 증가되고 있다. 연구자는 PBL 교수법의 구체적인 실천과정에 관심을 갖고 연구자의 동기S 교수의 PBL 수업을 2012년 9월 1일부터 12월 13일까지 참여 관찰하면서 질적 연구를 수행하였다. 이 과정에서 연구자는 새로운 교수법을 적용하는 과정에서 교수자의 고민과 갈등으로 변형되는 교수법 찾기의 과정이 있음을 알게 되었다. S 교수의 교수법찾기의 과정은 배움, 실천, 점검의 순환적인 과정으로 이루어진다. 대학 내·외 연수를통한 배움에서 교수법의 변화를 시도하고 학생들과 수업과정에서 실천하면서 학생들로부터의 반응을 토대로 교수법을 정착시키며 마지막으로 유아교육전문가를 양성하고 있는가라는 목표에 비추어 교수법을 점검하는 것으로 나타났다. S 교수의 교수법 찾기의의미를 들여다보면, 교수는 학생 성장에 대한 열정을 갖고 동반 성장하는 방법을 모색하는 과정이며 미래의 유아교육 전문가로서 유아들에게 자리를 내어주는 교사를 양성하는 방법을 끊임없이 탐구하는 과정으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 대학에서의 유아교사 양성을 위한 교수법에 시사점을 제공하고자 한다.
Abstract
Recently, the interest and practice of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) instead of a unilateral lecture and explanatory instruction have increased. PBL is based on constructivism and learner-centered instruction. The purpose of this study was to explore how Professor S applied a new instructional method, PBL in her lessons. Participant observation was used from September 1 to December 13, 2012. From my observations, I found out a process of looking for an instructional method that transformed by concerns and conflicts experienced by Professor S when she applied PBL in her lessons. Specifically, she faced the following issues: students giving a lecture instead of a professor, enumeration of incomprehensible information, and lesson without context, during the initial PBL application. Therefore, she changed her lessons using a dialogic method that promoted construction of the students' knowledge through conversation. From my request Professor S continued her lessons and she showed both student and instructor initiated dialogic PBL lessons that complemented the issues of previous PBL application. When looking into her process of looking for the instructional method, attempts of improving the instructional method are important for a better lesson that satisfy the students and Professor S. The process includes trials and errors that made her experience confusion and conflict. In addition, the process is a continuous practice that monitors and finds its own instructional method based on the essence of the instructional method and responses of students, and shares them with the human resources around her. I expect college instructors who pursue the improvement of an instructional method to gain more useful ideas from this study.
