Abstract
The aim of this paper is to investigate Internet ethnography as a new research method that has emerged with the development of the Internet. First, the concept and historical development of Internet ethnography were throughly researched. This was followed by an investigation into the methodological characteristics of Internet ethnography through a comparison with traditional ethnography. Finally, the procedure of Internet ethnography is suggested to comprise of four steps: definition of the research theme, data collection, data analysis, and the representation of research results. In addition, the ethical dimension of the application of research to Internet ethnography is also considered. This paper will provide a useful qualitative research method with which to systematically research Internet space and contribute to a re-illumination of educational phenomena. Also, our cultural phenomena discovered through these efforts will contribute significantly to an integrated understanding of our lives.
