From Learning as Acquisition of Knowledge to Learning as Participation in Cultural Practice

이 글에서 나는 상황학습론과 사에키의 문화론 및 문화적 실천론에 기초해서 학습을 지식 혹은 정보의 획득으로 보기보다는 문화적 실천에의 참가, 기존의 문화적 실천의 수정 그리고 바람직한 문화적 실천의 창조로 재정의할 것을 제안한다. 이러한 새로운 학습론을 부각시키기 위해서 먼저 주류심리학의 학습관, 즉 ‘특정한 형태의 지식의 획득’으로서 학습을 보는 관점이 얼마나 우리의 사고를 지배하고 있고, 학교의 교육실천 속에 깊숙이 침투해 있는지를 밝혔다. 두 번째 상황학습론를 탐구하고 그 탐구를 통해 얻은 아이디어에 기초해서 학교교육의 양상을 검토하였다. 세 번째 사에키의 문화론 그리고 문화적 실천론에 기초해서 상황학습론의 확장을 시도하고 작금의 문화적 실천으로서의 학습의 양상을 탐구하였다.
Abstract
In this essay, based on situated learning and Saeki’s theory of both culture and cultural practice, I would suggest learning as participation in a certain cultural practice, revision of the existing cultural practice and creation of desirable cultural practice, rather than looking to the notion of learning as the acquisition of certain form of knowledge. To highlight this new theory of learning, first of all, I should reveal how the notion of learning as the acquisition of certain form of knowledge, which is derived from mainstream psychology, has been governing our ways of thinking and have permeated formal schooling practice deeply. Secondly, I would like to tell you that I have investigated the theory of situated learning, inquiring about some aspects of formal schooling based on the theory. Finally, based upon Saeki’s theory of both culture and cultural practice, I attempted to develop situational learning, inquiring about some aspects of contemporary learning as a cultural practice.
