Emerging in late seventeenth and early eighteenth century Germany, Pietism was given expression and guidance through the theological programs and visions of Philip J. Spener, August H. Francke, and Johann. A. Bengel. Pietism was attempt to resist the breakthrough of secularizing tendencies in the contemporary world. Pietist movements forecasted not only a better man but also a better church and ultimately in a better world. For this purposes, they took steps toward the reformation of life. Pietism not only contributed to the dismantling of the old but also the Enlightenment culture that characterized the new. Consequently, German pietism achieved the various modern performance.
