초록

This study is about North American Indian's spirituality from the perspective of feminist theology. Linda Hogan shows a possibility of the new feminist theology that connects the native Indian's religion to the Western Christianity in Power. This is a new approach to religion and history, connecting Earth and Heaven. According to Hogan, the human desire is responsible for the division. Therefore, human beings seek the spiritual enlightenment to bridge the chasm between the two. She asks us to take new actions that are from Indian's traditional myths and ceremonies. I have three opinions about Hogan’s theology. The first, in the spirituality of Christianity, Hogan makes use of the biblical history and system. For example, the main character of Power, Omishto watches God, Noah's flood, human's corruption, God's incarnation, the crucifix, salvation, and revival that are similar to the Bible. Most of all, Indian's god "Oni" is like "the Holy Spirit," and "Sica" who is a panda goddess is like "Jesus Christ" who is the Christian God. Hogan explains us about the goddesses in the universe. The second point is the view of ecology. She wants us to awaken the crisis consciousness because the world is being destroyed by the capitalist's exploitation and pollution. She wants to awaken the crisis consciousness in us. She thinks Indian’s special ecological spirituality can solve these problems. The third point is where Hogan indicates the problems of patriarchal religion and patriarchal society. She wants to solve them with women’s experiences and praxis. Omishto successfully combines Christian's sense of values in her mind and the Indian spirituality. They reflect all Hogan’s sense of values and identity. The four goddesses, Panda, Ama, and Omishto represent Hogan’s new world vision, that is, "love" and "hope."
