초록
This article examines how Byron’s Don Juan embodies the protagonist’s various religious sensibilities in perceptions of the intertwined significances of places such as abbey galleries, London, and natural surroundings. The author’s exploration of the protagonist’s divine sentiment and thought enriches the epic satire with the depth of his contemplation about something ethereal amidst realistic experiences of the decline of man and civilization. In view of Juan’s reflections on the aforementioned locations, the paper concentrates on the way in which Byron establishes from his early works and develops the inmost thoughts and moods of the hero in association with his desire for seeking permanence and the ultimate Being unaffected by the vicissitudes of the human world.
