미술치료를 통한 선택적 함묵 아동의 의사소통과 문제행동 개선에 대한 사례연구

본 연구에서는 선택적 함묵을 보인 초등학생의 미술치료를 통해 미술치료가 선택적 함묵 아동의 의사소통과 문제행동 개선에 미치는 영향을 확인하고자 실시하였다. 선택적 함묵으로 진단 받은 8세 여아 1명을 대상으로 2002년 7월 2일부터 12월 18일까지 총 19회기로 K시 복지관 심리치료실에서 10회기까지는 주 2회, 11회부터 치료종결인 19회기까지는 주 1회씩 실시하였다. 아동의 미술치료 프로그램은 매 회기 실시하는 과제를 정해놓지 않고 아동이 직접 과제를 선택하거나 연구자가 선택한 과제를 아동의 긍정적인 반응을 얻어 구성하였으며 핑거페인팅, 종이죽 놀이, 색종이로 만들기, 점토 놀이, 꼴라쥬 등의 미술치료 프로그램을 실시하였다. 연구의 효과를 검증하기 위해 아동․청소년 행동평가척도(K-CBCL)와 각 회기별 질적 분석, 가족화(DAF), 동적가족화(KFD) 검사, 행동관찰을 통해 사전․사후의 변화를 분석하였다. 본 연구의 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 내렸다. 첫째, 미술치료가 선택적 함묵 아동의 의사소통 개선에 효과적인 것으로 나타났다. 회기별 질적 분석과 행동관찰에서 교사들에게 먼저 인사하거나 타인의 질문에 대답하고 새로운 친구를 사귀는 등 의사소통이 가능해졌다. 둘째, 문제행동 개선에도 미술치료가 효과적인 것으로 나타났다. K-CBCL의 사전검사에서 매우 높았던 3개의 하위요인 즉, 위축, 사회적 미성숙, 공격성이 사후검사에서 상당히 감소되었다. 회기별 질적 분석과 행동관찰에서도 이들 행동이 많이 줄었으며 심부름을 잘하거나 과제에 집중하는 시간이 길어졌다. 따라서 미술치료가 선택적 함묵 아동의 의사소통과 문제행동 개선에 매우 효과적이라는 것을 알 수 있다.
Abstract
The purpose of this case study is to apply art therapy to the selective mutism child with communication and problem behavior. One selective mutism child participated in this case study. This child is a eight-years- old girl diagnosed as a child with selective mutism. The total 19 sessions took place 50 minutes twice a week or once a week. That treatment consisted of art therapy program that finger painting, gruel paper playing, colored paper making, clay playing, mutual scribble story making and collage and so on. K-CBCL, DAF and KFD were used for pre-posttest, She has been observed before and after the art therapy by mother, kindergartener and therapist. The result of this case study were as follows; First, the child's communication was increased through art therapy. Second, problem behavior was improved through art therapy. The results supported that art therapy was a useful intervention for improvement of selective mutism child's communication and problem behavior.
