Abstract

In the above, we looked at the 11 works dealing with frontier issues as a topic in Volume 3 of Yuefu Poems among the complete works of Li Bai poetry, combining them with the entire life cycle of Li Bai. Although Li Bai’s poetry is not particularly important in the genealogy of frontier poetry, there is no disagreement among many scholars that Li Bai’s poetry most eloquently reveals the spirit of the The flourishing Tang Dynasty. A total of 11 poems were selected from Volume 3 of Yuefu and examined by dividing them into 3 stages according to the period of creation. Li Bai’s early period frontier poems revealed the spirit of an active poet. He had a romanticized view of the battlefield and had no real experience, so his descriptions were mainly based on imagination and an exaggerated atmosphere. As time passed and after experiencing the northern region for a short period of time, in middle period, Late Periodprevious optimistic outlook diminished significantly. Meanwhile, after the An Shi Rebellion broke out, in late period Li Bai was also swept up in reality and descriptions of hardship increased. However, when viewed as a whole, compared to representative poets of change, there are more depictions based on imagination than depictions of reality, and the consciousness of trying to overcome without losing hope until the end is highlighted. In the future, there is a need to expand and supplement all of frontier poem’s poems among Li Ba’s Yuefu poems as subjects of research.
