Abstract
Inweolbyeo is a japonica rice (Oryza sativa L.) variety developed by Unbong Substation, National Honam Agricultural Experiment Station, RDA in 1998. It was selected from progenies from a cross between Fukei 127 and Unbongbyeo by pedigree breeding method. This variety is early maturing type with heading date of July 31 in ordinary season. Milled rice kernel of Inweolbyeo is non-glutinous endosperm and clear, and its palatability of cooked rice is excellent. Inweolbyeo was resistant to leaf blast disease, but susceptible to bacterial blight, virus diseases and major insect pests. The yield performance of this variety was about 5.33 MT/ha in milled rice at the ordinary transplanting and standard fertilizer application. Inweolbyeo would be well adaptable to the rice area of mid-mountainous in middle-northern part and southern mountainous-alpine area in Korea.
