Abstract
During the progress of introgressive backcrossing between Ilpumbyeo as a recurrent parent and Moroberekan as a donor to develop promising lines resistant to rice blast, 279 BC3F1 plants which were phenotypically similar to Ilpumbyeo and resistant to blast were selected. These 279 BC3F2 lines were evaluated for several agronomic traits in the field and also were genotyped with 99 SSR markers evenly distributed on the rice chromosome to detect Moroberekan chromosomal segments. These lines displayed similar phenotypes compared to Ilpumbyeo in evaluated traits including days to heading. Several lines showed differences compared to Ilpumbyeo and these differences might be due to the Moroberekan chromosome segments introgressed into Ilpumbyeo. To know the effects of the Moroberekan chromosomal segments on the traits, QTL analysis was carried out using one-way ANOVA.. Three QTLs related to days to heading were detected on chromosomes 1, 4 and 6. QTLs related to culm length were detected on chromosomes 1,7 and 8. Two QTLs each for panicle length and panicle number were detected on chromosomes 1 and 6, respectively. One QTL for 1,000-grain weight and the gene for gold hull were mapped on chromosome 2, respectively. The number of Moroberekan fragments in the 279 NILs was in the range of 3 - 16 and the length of introgressed fragments was in the range of 3.9 - 112.1 cM. These NILs developed here will be useful for breeding resistant cultivars and characterization of blast resistance.
