Abstract
A new peanut variety Daemyung(Arachis hypogaea L.) was developed from the cross between SP8703-2-2 and SP8708-4-1 at the Honam Agricultural Research Institute, National Institute of Crop Sciencee in 2003. This variety belongs to shinpung type with erect growth habit in plant, midium size in kernels and light green color in leaves. This variety has two kernels with red testa color in each pod and its 100-kernel weight was 103 g. The number of pods per m2 was 232 pods and the shelling percentage was 75%. Resistance to disease of Phoma arachdicola rated 1.0 in the field condition. The kernal yield potential of Daemyung was 8% higher than that of Daekwang producing 3,570kg/ha. This variety would be registered as a new variety for all over the peanut cultivation area except mountainous area of Kangwon province of Korea.
