A New Bicolored Rose Cultivar, ＂Gowooni＂

Abstract

A new bicolor standard rose(Rosa hybrida Hort.) cultivar Gowooni was developed at the Flower Breeding Research Institute of Gyeongnam Agricultural Research and Extension Services (ARES) after going through seeding and line selection in 1997, and its characteristics was examined three times from 1999 to 2002. Gowooni, the progeny of Maaike and Angelica, has bicolor, cream-white with red purple color (RHS No.62-B+57-C), sweet fragrance, and large flower with good harmony between ray floret and flower center. The vase life of cut flower was 9.9 days. This new cultivar was registered as a commercial cultivar in 2002 and will be released to farmers in 2004.
