가족기능, 자아존중감과 사회적 지지는 그동안 아동의 적응에 영향을 미치는 요인으로 많이 연구되어왔다. 본 연구는 초등학생의 문제행동에 대한 가족기능의 영향을 자아존중감과 사회적 지지가 매개하는지에 관심을 두었다. 초등학교 6학년 남여 423명에게 설문조사를 실시하여 자료를 수집하고 구조방정식모형을 이용하여 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 초등학생의 문제행동은 가족기능에 의해 직접적으로 영향을 받는 동시에 사회적 지지를 매개하여, 그리고 자아존중감과 사회적 지지를 매개하여 간접적으로도 영향을 받는 것으로 나타났다. 즉 십대초반의 아동의 문제행동은 가족기능에 의해 가장 잘 설명되었으며, 매개효과에서는 아동의 내적 특성인 자아존중감보다는 외부적 관계 특성인 사회적 지지의 영향력이 더 커, 자아가 확립되기 이전의 발달단계에 처한 아동에게서는 주변 성인이나 친구들의 지지가 문제행동을 완충하는데 더 효과적임을 보여주었다. 연구결과에 따른 실천적 함의가 논의되었다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate pathways from family function to elementary school children's problem behavior while exploring the mediating effects of children's self-esteem and social support. Four hundred twenty three 6th graders were given standardized questionnaires. Collected data were analyzed using SPSS and AMOS statistical package for Structural Equation Modeling. Study results were as follows. Family functions showed both direct and indirect effects on children's problem behavior. Family function is the strongest predictor of children's problem behavior. Social support mediated the effect of family function on problem behavior, and self-esteem of children was not proven to have mediating effect alone, but when combined with social support, the effect became significant. Significant pathways should be interpreted with caution concerning the developmental stage of children in this study. Results suggest that programs that promote social support should be given attention in addition to strengthening family function to reduce problem behaviors of children.
