청소년의 사회적 자본이 비행에 미치는 영향

초록

본 연구는 사회적 자본이론에 근거하여 청소년발달에 있어 사회적 관계의 중요성에 초점을 두었다. 본 연구의 목적은 청소년의 비행에 영향을 미치는 사회적 자본의 개념적 모형을 발견하고, 사회적 자본이 사회적 통제에 대한 순응이라는 메커니즘을 통해 간접적인 영향을 미친다는 점을 규명하고자 하는 것이었다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 한국청소년정책연구원의 한국청소년패널조사를 통해 수집된 1차년도부터 3차년도까지의 종단적 자료를 활용하여 인과적 관계를 분석하였다. 통계방법으로는 구조방정식모형을 이용하여 확인적 요인분석과 구조모형분석을 실시하였다. 확인적 요인분석 결과, 각 잠재요인들의 측정변수의 요인적재량이나 측정모형의 적합성 등을 근거로 판단하였을 때, 청소년들의 사회적 자본(1차년도 자료), 학교와의 유대감(2차년도 자료), 비행(3차년도 자료) 등의 잠재요인들이 측정변수들에 의해 잘 설명되는 것으로 파악되었다. 특히, 청소년의 부모, 교사, 친구와의 관계로서 개념화된 사회적 관계는 사회적 자본이라는 단일화된 개념으로서 측정 가능한 것으로 나타났다. 구조모형의 분석 결과, 사회적 자본은 비행에 대해 직접적인 영향은 미미한 것으로 드러났다. 대신, 본 연구결과는 사회적 자본은 청소년의 사회통제에 대한 순응을 강화하고, 결과적으로 비행경험을 줄인다는 것을 암시하였다. 즉, 청소년들의 부모, 교사, 친구와의 긍정적 관계형성은 학교와의 유대감을 높이고 이것이 청소년의 비행행동을 줄이는 효과를 낸다고 할 수 있다. 마지막으로 본 연구결과에 따른 청소년복지에 대한 실천적 함의가 논의되었다.

Abstract

Based on social capital theory, this study investigated the effects of social capital on adolescents' development. The purposes of this study were to identify social relationships of adolescents as a conceptual model of social capital, and to examine the direct and indirect effects of adolescents' social capital on their involvement in delinquent behaviors. For the purposes, I used longitudinal data of the Korea Youth Panel Survey, which accumulated over three years. For the statistical analysis method, I employed structural equation modeling. The study results of confirmatory factor analysis showed that the latent constructs(social capital, psychological ties with school, juvenile delinquency) that the study developed could be properly explained by their indicators. The results also revealed the appropriate levels of model fit indices. Assessment of the structural model indicated that adolescents' social capital would reduce their involvement on juvenile delinquency indirectly, rather that directly, through strengthening psychological ties with school. Based on the study results, the implications on social work practice were discussed.
