Abstract
This study aims to derive implications necessary for seeking measures to relieve child-rearing burdens of parents who have a child with disabilities. To this end, it selected mothers who have a child with a developmental disability as its object and verified the relationship among social support, permanency plans, and child-rearing burdens of them. For this paper, a survey was conducted on its objects of 200 mothers who have a child with an intellectual disability or autism, and the Partial Least Square(PLS) analysis was used to figure out the relationship between key variables. The result explains that if a mother recognizes to be provided enough support from both a self-help group and experts, her child-rearing burden is at a low level. In addition, according to the analysis, the level of a permanency plan plays a role as a partial mediator among self-help group support, expert support, and child-rearing burden. Thus, this study gives suggestions that are essential to relieving child-rearing burdens of parents who have children with developmental disabilities. They include to create an environment where local communities and welfare institutions for the disabled can provide enough self-help group and expert support, as well as to establish policies or programs to support the disabled in designing their permanency plans.
