제주 4･3 사건과 인권 - 여성 인권의 보장을 중심으로 -

Abstract

The Jeju April 3 incident was a truly tragic event with the second-most casualties after the Korean War in our modern history. The April 3 incident is also a tragedy that is not completely over. The fact-finding has been delayed ‘for more than half a century’, and it cannot be said that the truth has been completely revealed. Although it is late, it is fortunate that the ‘Special Act on the Investigation of the Jeju 4･3 Incident and Restoration of Honor for Rehabilitated Persons’ was enacted on January 12, 2000, and has been revised a total of 10 times. However, as mentioned in the 76th anniversary of the Ⅵ of this thesis, the special law, which is still lacking, there are many shortcomings. This paper outlines the 4･3 incident through some things you need to know about the Jeju 4･3 incident, introduces the memories (III) of only women who are not easily known in the disaster, and then discusses the April 3 incident in the order of two views (IV.), the political circle's historical perception (V.), the 76th anniversary of the April 3 incident, and the special law (Ⅵ), which is still lacking, and concludes the discussion by dealing with the issue of historical trauma (Ⅶ). Jeju 4･3 Incident, the memory struggle of the entire nation must begin. In order for us to truly help victims suffering from historical trauma, there must be a social consensus to recognize the victims, and there must be a restoration of a community where victims and witnesses can form a mutual alliance. This is because the history of oblivion repeats when these efforts are not made. Now, Jeju 4･3 incident should no longer be recognized as a pain only for Jeju residents and left as their own ‘memory struggle’. I look forward to the day Uncle Soon-yi becomes my uncle. It should be remembered that Danjae Shin Chae-ho's words, “A nation that has lost its territory can regenerate, but a nation that has forgotten history cannot regenerate.”
