한국과 인도의 사회과교육 비교 연구 -교과서 내용 분석과 상대국에 대한 인식을 중심으로

초록

이 연구는 한국과 인도의 사회과교육을 비교하여 연구함으로써 상호 이해를 증진시키기 위한 교육적 토대를 마련하는 것을 목적으로 하고 있다. 이를 위하여 한국과 인도 중등학교 학생들의 상호 이해의 바탕이 되는 교과서에서 상대를 어떻게 기술하고 있는지를 분석하고, 설문 조사를 통해서 상대국에 대한 인식의 실제를 분석하고 있다. 한국 교과서에서의 인도에 관한 내용의 특징은 본문의 진술과 표 및 그림의 양이 매우 많으며 중요하게 다루어지고 있고, 상세한 내용을 다루며, 부정적 인상을 주는 내용이 많고 인도와 우리나라와의 관계를 다루는 내용이 거의 없다. 인도 교과서에서의 한국에 관한 내용의 특징은 우리나라에 대한 내용 제시의 분량이 절대적으로 적으며, 제시된 내용도 매우 빈약하고, 남한과 북한의 구분에 매우 민감하며, 최근 우리나라의 산업 발달에 관련된 내용이 미흡하다. 한국 학생들의 인도에 대한 인식은 대체로 긍정적이며, 특히 문화적인 측면에서 상대방을 긍정적으로 인식하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 상대방이 자신에 대해 지니고 있을 것이라고 생각하는 인식에는 상당한 차이가 있다. 이러한 분석을 바탕으로 한국과 인도에서 어떤 교육적 배려가 필요한 지에 대한 시사를 제공할 수 있을 것이다. 이 연구는 한국에서의 인도 그리고 인도에서의 한국에 대한 연구의 시작이라는 의미를 갖는다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find the educational foundation by comparison of Social Studies education between Korea and India. For this study, 15 secondary textbooks in Korea and 28 in India are analysed and 488 secondary school students in Korea and 489 in India are surveyed by questionnaire. Statistical analyses are accomplished to the collected data by SPSS 14.0K for Windows. In Korean textbooks, the amounts of descriptions are very large, the details are very concrete, negative impressions are usual, and the contents treat the relationship between Korea and India cannot be found at all. In Indian textbooks, the amounts of descriptions are very small and poor, the distinction between South and North Korea is very sensitive and the industrial developments in Korea are insufficient. The cognitions of Korean students about India and Indian students about Korea are positive in the aspect of culture above all. But the cognitions of the other's cognition about his/her own self are different.
