다문화 교사 연수 프로그램의 사례 분석

본 연구는 다문화교육을 위한 교사 연수 프로그램이 교사의 다문화적 역량에 미치는 효과를 분석하기 위한 사례연구이다. 본 연구의 연수 프로그램은 경기도다문화교육센터에서 2009년 12월~2010년 1월에 걸쳐 2주간 60시간 실시한 것으로, 대상은 경기도 초·중등학교 교사 68명이다. 본 연구에서 실시한 연수 프로그램의 효과를 파악하기 위해 Pohan & Aguilar(2001)가 개발한 다양성 태도 척도와 Guyton & Welshe(2005)가 개발한 교사 다문화효능감 척도를 우리 실정에 맞게 번역하여 사용하였다. 연수 프로그램의 실시 전후에 사전 검사와 사후 검사를 실시하였고 분석 가능한 54명의 자료에 대하여 paired t-test를 실시하였다. 자료 분석 결과, 연수 프로그램에 참여한 교사들의 다문화적 효능감이 의미 있게 향상되었고, 교사들이 우리사회의 인종적·문화적 다양성에 대하여 보다 개방적이고 관용적인 태도를 갖게 되었음이 나타났다. 다문화 교육의 담론이 본격화되는 시점에서 여전히 교사 교육에 대한 관심과 연구가 미흡한 실정이며 본 연구는 교사의 다문화적 역량 함양을 위한 연수 프로그램의 개발과 실행에 의미 있는 시사점을 제공해준다.
Abstract
The present study examines the effects of a teacher training program for multicultural education on teachers' multicultural efficacy and their beliefs about diversity. The sample for this study consists of 68 elementary and high school teachers in Gyeonggi Province. The 60 hour training program was conducted at the Gyeongi Center for Multicultural Education. The questionnaire is comprised of questions regarding multicultural efficacy and beliefs about diversity. The pretest and posttest scores were analyzed through paired t-test for 54 teachers' data. The results of the study are as follow. First, the teacher training program of this study was effective both for enhancing the teachers' multicultural efficacy and their positive beliefs about diversity. Second, the results of study imply that future in-service training programs for multicultural education should focus more on enhancing teachers' problem solving ability and developing teaching materials.
