다문화교육에 대한 사회과 교사들의 인식도 연구 - 광주전남지역을 중심으로

본 연구에서는 광주․전남지역의 초등학교 교사들의 다문화교육에 대한 인식도를 살펴보기 위하여 특히 다문화적 태도 및 다문화적 효능감, 다문화적 이해도 등을 설문 조사하였다. 본 연구의 대상은 광주․전남 지역에 소재한 초등학교 사회과 수업을 담당하고 있는 교사 112명이었다. 연구 결과를 보면 첫째, 다문화와 관련된 문항에 응답한 교사들의 인식을 볼 때 다문화교육에 대해서는 상당히 긍정적이었으며, 문화적 다양성을 가르칠 필요가 있다고 생각하고 있었다. 특히 여러 지역 교사들은 비교해 볼 때, 다문화교육에 관해서는 비슷한 인식을 갖고 있었다. 둘째, 교사들이 응답한 다문화적 효능감에 대한 생각을 분석하면 교사들이 가지는 다문화적 효능감은 대체로 높은 편이었다. 그러나 다문화교육 학습자료 개발에는 다소 자신감이 없다는 반응을 보였다. 셋째, 교사들이 응답한 다문화교육에 대한 이해를 분석한 결과를 보면 상당히 높은 수준의 다문화 이해도를 나타낸다. 그러나 아직도 소수이기는 하지만 다문화교육에 대한 오해 내지 편견이 있음을 알 수 있다.
Abstract
The korea society is changing to multicultural society because international marriages and foreign workers are increasing after 1990's in Korea. This study has performed investigations into the literature and research with a questionnaire to analyze multicultural attitude, multicultural efficacy, multicultural understanding of the elementary social studies teachers in Gwangju Jeonnam Province. We have distributed it among 112 elementary teachers in charge of the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grades. we have collected their replies, analyze the data for this study. First, the teachers showed largely positive multicultural attitude. They emphasize to respect for diversity. Second, the teachers showed relatively higher level of multicultural efficacy. But They showed extremely low level of multicultural efficacy for instructional competence to provide instructional method to meet the needs of students. Third, the teachers showed relatively higher level of multicultural understanding. But a few teachers have a prejudice or misunderstanding about multicultural education.
