Abstract

This article presents a reinterpretation of the system of the Li-Qi theory in the structure of practical study of Zhu-zi. Previous researches have analyzed the system of Zhu-zi’s Li-Qi theory, furthermore, explained the theory of human mind/nature and the theory of self-cultivation based on this system of the Li-Qi theory. This approach is limited to describe the theory of human mind/nature and the theory of self-cultivation in the structure of ontological Li-Qi of the Neo-Confucian. But, Zhu-zi’s academic scheme is formed through a practical study process such as the old theory of zhonghe(中和舊說) and the new theory of zhonghe(中和新說) etc. In other words, Li-Qi theory and human mind/nature theory is the moral and practical system of confucius' philosophy formed in the practical life of Zhu-zi. Therefore, confucius' philosophy of Zhu-zi can grasp the moral and practical implications for the relationship between ‘Li’ and ‘Qi’ to understand the structure of the Li-Qi theory from practical system of self-cultivation theory. ‘Li’ is the essence of absolute good and the power of moral realization, ‘Qi’ is the source of evil and a phenomenon that morality is realized in the structure of practical study of Zhu-zi. The ‘Li’ and ‘Qi’ have the separable and inseparable relation in this frame of practical study.
