사회참여 수업이 청소년들의 시민성 함양에 미치는 효과 -공동체의식과 정치적 태도를 중심으로

본 연구의 목적은 사회과의 참여 수업이 청소년의 시민성 함양에 미치는 효과를 분석하는 것이다. 이를 위하여 수도권 소재 중학교 3학년 학생들을 대상으로 사회참여 수업을 실시하고 통제집단과의 비교를 통하여 학생들의 시민성에 미치는 효과를 분석하였다. 구체적으로 실험집단에는 사회참여 수업을, 통제집단에는 강의식 수업을 진행한 후 두 집단의 시민성에 차이가 있는지 알아보았고, 실험집단의 시민성 함양에 학생들의 숙의의 정도가 영향을 미치는지 알아보았다. 연구 결과, 사회참여 수업이 강의식 수업에 비해 공동체의식과 정치적 태도의 함양 효과가 더 큰 것으로 나타났다. 또한 사회참여 수업 중 이루어진 숙의의 정도가 학생들의 시민성에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며 개인 변인과 교과 관련 변인은 통계적으로 의미 있는 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 사회참여 수업의 시민성 함양 효과에 주목하여 수업의 유형으로서 사회참여 수업에 대한 연구가 지속되어야 하고, 숙의가 사회참여 수업에 갖는 의미를 바탕으로 숙의 과정에 대한 후속연구가 필요하다는 시사점을 갖는다.
Abstract
This study aims to examine the effects on citizenship through the experience participating community in social studies classes and to study their process. In this vein, I examine firstly whether there are differences of citizenship between community participation classes as experimental groups and lecture classes as control groups. Secondly, I examine the effects of the deliberation in the participants’ citizenship. The result of this study are follows. First, community participation classes have more positive increasing effect of citizenship than lecture classes. In details, the community participation in classes leads the students to acquire the sub elements of sense of community, such as membership, influence, integration and fulfillment of needs and emotional connection more than the students that have took teacher-led lessons. And it also allows them to increase more the sub elements of political attitude, such as political confidence, political efficacy, political tolerance and participation consciousness. And the frequency of deliberation that students have experienced in participation affects the increasing of students' citizenship. However, this study shows that individual factors and subject-related factors do not affect their citizenship. This results indicate a few implications. Firstly, related to the effects of increasing citizenship of community participation classes, lots of studies on this classes as a type of class should be studied. Secondly, the process of deliberation in the participation should be studied more detail.
