인셉션(Inception)은 ‘생각 주입하기’라는 의미를 지닌다. 영화 인셉션은 생각 주입하기라는 주제를 중심으로 에너지 그룹 피셔 모로우 회사 사주의 생각을 바꾸는 과정을 담아내고 있다. 생각을 바꾸기 위한 방법은 사전에 설계한 꿈의 세계 즉, 무의식의 세계로 인셉션의 대상을 끌어들여, 상대로 하여금 설계자가 의도하는 생각을 갖도록 하는 것이다. 설계된 꿈의 세계에 들어온 사람은 일반적으로 경험하는 꿈의 경우와는 달리 꿈속에서 뿐만 아니라 꿈에서 깨어난 뒤에도 꿈을 기억하지 못한다. 즉, 꿈과 현실의 구분이 불가능하다. 무의식이라는 꿈속에서의 경험을 의식으로 구성하도록 하여 스스로 생각을 바꾸는 것이다. 이러한 주제 속에 함의된 교육적 의미를 다음과 같이 해석하기로 한다. 첫째, 교육의 세계에서 의미의 구성은 대상을 객관적으로 인식해 내는 것이 아니라 이미지에 대한 은유(메타포)적 해석이라는 의미를 지닌다. 영화에서 꿈 설계자는 물리적 세계관을 해체 내지는 초월한다. 물리학적으로 2차원의 세계에서만 가능한 ‘펜로즈 계단’이 꿈이라는 가상 세계에서는 현실처럼 작용한다. 사회 현상에 관한 앎 역시 이와 다르지 않다. 예를 들어 ‘민주주의’라는 개념은 객관적으로 존재하는 세계를 드러내는 개념이 아니라 생각을 담아내는 메타포라는 점에서 구성된 이미지로서의 개념이다. 교육의 세계에서 주목하는 창의적 사고나 의미의 구성 등은 메타포로서의 이미지와 깊숙이 연루되며, 이는 구성주의 인식론에 근원을 두고 있다. 둘째, 영화에서 설계자는 꿈속에서 다시금 꿈을 꾸는 ‘꿈의 꿈’을 설계하고 다시금 꿈의 꿈속에서 꿈을 꾸는 ‘꿈의 꿈의 꿈’이라는 메타 꿈의 세계를 보여준다. 이러한 메타 현상은 학습자가 의미를 구성하는 과정에서 나타나는 메타인지로서의 교육적 의미를 함의한다. 학습의 세계에서 메타인지는 자신의 생각을 다시금 생각하는 것으로서 학습자 스스로 자신의 선지식을 해체, 수정하고 의미를 재구성하게 한다.
Abstract
A Film 'Inception' has two educational meaning. The first meaning is 'meta', and the second meaning is a construction of metaphor. In the film, a designer designs a dream of dream that dreams a dream in dreaming. In other words, 'meta-dream'. A meta has a particular meaning in learning. A metacognition enables the reconstruction of meaning through deconstruction of prior-knowledge learner itself. The construction of meaning is not a objective cognition of object but a metaphorical interpretation of image. A penrose stairs, in the film, implicate the deconstruction of division between virtual reality and reality. The cognition of social phenomena is the same here. A concept is not a representation of objective reality but a metaphor of constructive image.
