Abstract
The purpose of this study was to compare bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) with anthropometry for assessment of percent body fat in male skating athletes. For this study we recruit 14 young male adults for control group and 14 male skating athletes and analyzed percent body fat by BIA and anthropometry methods. According to the results, the correlation coefficients between the two methods were high in both of control group and skating athletes, respectively r = 0.766, r = 0.784. There were, however, differences between control group and skating athletes in mean of percent. The percent body fat was higher in skating athletes estimated by BIA than by the anthropometry method, the mean difference was 21%. For identifying individual differences and possibility of the systemic error, we conducted Bland-Altman plots and found out all skating athletes have higher percent body from BIA than from anthropometry. These result suggested BIA could systemically have higher percent body fat of male athletes and be needed to exam the validity of it and develop regression equation which correct the biological error of exercise training adaptation.
