Abstract
This study was proceeded as a follow-up study of “Development of PA indexes based on school physical activity environments for adolescents” by Kim(2012). Thus, the purpose of this study is to assess physical activity through using developed physical activity indexes. To achieve this purpose of the study, First, as the basis for weighting of indexes, score was calculated. Second, Students’ physical activity was measured according to scoring Third, we checked school environment factor, which influences students’ physical activity most. To do this physical activity was measured for three days including P.E classes by using pedometer. We didn’t classify schools by regions but grading of physical activity environment. According to the results, score of physical activity environment showed a big difference between schools from 48 to 90, the average is 68.4. Average of factor was sports facility 23.03, P.E teacher 25.10, education curriculum 8.62, sports club 3.54, physical activity program 3.36, sports support 4.73. These scores were converted into 100, divided grade, assessed qualitatively. Though P.E teacher index was assessed “excellent”, Sports club and physical activity program were assessed “weakness” Also, the results of difference between boys and girls in the amount of physical activity showed that boys in “excellent, normal” school represents significantly higher than “weakness” students statistically. It was proved that girls in “normal” school are higher than “excellent” school. However, It showed little difference than boys. Through this, it will be helpful to know the environment of physical activity in schools, finally to find ways to improve students’ the amount of physical activity.
